It is my privilege and honor to propose the vote of thanks for the HSF–India and IUCAA Joint 5-Day Computing Workshop held from 20th to 24th April 2026.
At the outset, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to both Prof. Sanjit Mitra and Prof. Bhooshan Gadre. Prof. Sanjit Mitra has always encouraged conducting workshops in advanced areas related to computing and data analysis. I would like to specifically express gratitude to Prof. Bhooshan Gadre for conceptualizing and designing this workshop with a clear vision of strengthening India’s capabilities in gravitational-wave data analysis and scientific computing. His initiative has been instrumental in bringing together a vibrant group of early-career researchers and experts.
We are sincerely thankful to all our distinguished resource persons who joined us from across the globe—representing institutions in the USA, Poland, Taiwan, and the UK—for generously sharing their time, expertise, and insights. Your lectures, hands-on sessions, and interactions have been invaluable to all participants and have significantly enriched the learning experience.
I would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Prof. David Lange and Prof. Peter Elmer for their strong support through the HEP Software Foundation India, particularly for facilitating the international participation by providing full travel support to the resource persons and for sponsoring the workshop banquet. Your continued encouragement plays a vital role in fostering global collaboration. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Peter Couvares, LIGO Lab, Caltech for taking keen interest in the computing workshop and connecting us with the HSF India. It is his pursuation that will be leading to a series of several workshops in collaboration with HSF-India in future too.
Our sincere thanks to Prof. Srianand, Director of IUCAA, for graciously hosting this workshop and for extending comprehensive hospitality to all participants and resource persons. The excellent arrangements for accommodation, meals, and overall logistics have ensured a comfortable and productive environment for everyone.
We are deeply grateful to the Meetings Committee, led by Prof. Durgesh Tripathi and supported by Shri Alok Mishra, for approving this workshop in a timely manner, enabling its successful organization.
I would also like to acknowledge the tremendous efforts of the Local Organizing Committee, chaired by Shri Alok Mishra, along with the dedicated administrative and technical teams whose meticulous planning and execution made this workshop possible.
A special mention goes to Dr. Deepak Bankar for his key role in coordinating catering, workshop materials, and special events, as well as for ensuring seamless availability of JupyterHub and computing resources. We also thank Shri Maneesh Kumar for efficiently managing the workshop website, registration process, participant communication, and travel-related coordination.
We are grateful to Shri. Prafull Barathe, Shri. Sagar Shah, Shri. Santosh Jagade and Shri. Yogesh Thakare (Head, Computing Facilities) for enabling high-speed WiFi connectivity to the SARATHI LDG cluster which was crucial for the hands-on sessions, un-interrupted E-Mail services and publishing workshop link on IUCAA website at short notice both of which were crucial for having good numbers of participants.
Our sincere appreciation extends to all the administrative staff members, ably led by Cmdr. (Retd.) V. K. Vijay Balaji (SAO), whose contributions often go behind the scenes but are vital for success: Mr. Senith Samuel and his team for accommodation and catering arrangements; Mrs. Nirupama Bawdekar for workshop badges; Mr. Shashank Tarphe for capturing the memories through photography; Mrs. Neelima and team for organizing workshop materials; Shri Prashant Kulkarni and Mrs. Deepika Susainathan for travel arrangements; Mr. M. Muthupandi and team for financial processing and reimbursements; and Mr. Nitin Ohol and his team for ensuring smooth lecture hall arrangements.
Finally, I would like to thank all the participants for their enthusiasm, active engagement, and commitment throughout the workshop. Your energy and curiosity truly brought this event to life.
This workshop marks an important step in preparing our community for the upcoming LIGO-India detector and strengthening India’s role in the global gravitational-wave research ecosystem.
With this, I once again extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this workshop a grand success.
Thank you.
